International Meeting of Altar Servers
At the end of July, an international meeting of altar servers was held in Rome with about 70,000 participants. From the Czech Republic came a modest 60 of them together with 4 priests and a permanent deacon, all from the Diocese of Brno. The background for this time of fellowship, sightseeing of Rome and sharing among altar boys (and a few altar girls) of very different ages was created by our pilgrimage house, which really came alive for these few days. And there was also the place to sing, because it was a community that was not only joyful, but also singing! At the main event of the whole meeting - the special audience with Pope Francis in St. Peter's Square - the Czech altar servers were highly visible: thanks to the proximity of our house, they were in the first row and saw the Pope from the closest proximity four times. Two of them then assisted in the common prayer on the podium, and their meeting with the Pope was even more personal...
